Charles Émile Altorffer, né à Wœrth le 30 janvier 1881 et mort à Strasbourg le 6 août 1960. Pasteur et député, directeur du service des réfugiés d’Alsace-Lorraine à Périgueux, directeur du service des Cultes pour l’Alsace-Moselle en 1944, il assure à partir d’avril 1944 la direction clandestine des œuvres sociales juives, ancien maire de Strasbourg.
