A Corea és depredat per Lophius litulon[7] i Sillago japonica,[8] al Japó per Acanthogobius lactipes i Lateolabrax japonicus, a la Xina per Okamejei kenojei[9] i als Estats Units per Triakis semifasciata.[10]

És un peix de clima temperat i demersal.[4]

Es troba al Japó,[11][12][13][14] Corea,[15][16][17][18] Rússia (Sibèria),[19][20][21][22] Austràlia,[23][24][25][26][27] la Xina (incloent-hi Hong Kong),[28] Mèxic, els Estats Units[29][30] i el Vietnam.[31][32][33][34][35]
