  • El mascle pot arribar a fer 165 cm de llargària màxima i la femella 158 (normalment, en fan 100).
  • Pes màxim: 22 kg.[5][6][7]

Reproducció [modifica]

Els exemplars adults fan migracions anyals per fresar a les aigües oceàniques.[8]

Alimentació [modifica]

Menja principalment, durant la nit, crustacis, mol·luscs, insectes terrestres i aquàtics, i peixos (incloent-hi angules).[5][9]

Hàbitat [modifica]

És un peix d'aigua dolça, salabrosa i marina; demersal; catàdrom i de clima tropical (10°S-43°S, 141°E-161°E).[5][10]

Distribució geogràfica [modifica]

Es troba a Nova Guinea, Nova Caledònia i l'est d'Austràlia, incloent-hi Tasmània i l'illa de Lord Howe.[5][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27]

Longevitat [modifica]

Pot assolir els 41 anys d'edat.[28]

Observacions [modifica]

És inofensiu per als humans.[5]
