Als Estats Units és depredat per Morone saxatilis.[8][9]

Hàbitat [modifica]

És un peix de clima subtropical (41°N-21°N) i demersal.[6]

Distribució geogràfica [modifica]

Es troba a l'Oceà Atlàntic occidental: des de Nova York fins al sud de Florida i, també, des del nord i l'est del Golf de Mèxic fins al nord de Mèxic.[6][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23]

Ús comercial [modifica]

Generalment s'utilitza com a esquer.[6]

És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
