Menja principalment plàncton.[2][4]
Hàbitat[modifica]
És un peix bentopelàgic i de clima temperat (5 °C-25 °C).[2][5]
Distribució geogràfica[modifica]
Es troba a Euràsia: conques de la Mar del Nord, la mar Bàltica, la Mar Negra, el Mar d'Azov i la mar Càspia.[2][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
