Eine besonders merkwürdige Bestäubungseinrichtung, die als Kesselfalle bezeichnet wird, kommt bei den langröhrigen Blüten der Osterluzei (Aristolochia Clematitis) vor. Diese (Fig. 9) haben einen weiten Schlund s, einen dünnen, innen mit einwärts gekehrten Haaren h ausgekleideten Hals r und unten einen weiten, kesselartigen Raum k, in welchem direkt unter der Narbe n sich sechs Staubbeutel a befinden. Die B. wird hier durch winzige Mückenarten bewerkstelligt, die in den Kessel hineinkriechen und auf der Narbe den von frühern Besuchen mitgebrachten Blütenstaub absetzen, da die Staubbeutel der Blüte anfangs noch geschlossen sind. Am Hinauskriechen werden sie durch die reusenartig gestellten Haare verhindert, welche erst nach Öffnung der Staubbeutel und gleichzeitiger Umdrehung der Blumenkrone (III in Fig. 9) einschrumpfen und auf diese Weise den zuerst gefangenen, mit Blütenstaub beladenen Blumengästen den Austritt wieder gestatten.
