Segons la llei núm. 633, de 22 d'abril de 1941 i revisions posteriors, les imatges genèriques sense caràcter artístic (de persones o panoràmiques de la vida pública), obtinguts mitjançant procés fotogràfic o amb un mètode anàleg, incloent reproduccions d'art figuratiu i fotogrames de pel·lícules cinematogràfiques (Art. 87) passen a ser de domini públic a partir de l'inici de l'any natural següent al compliment de vint anys des de la seva data de creació (Art. 92).
