Ictiobus niger és una espècie de peix de la família dels catostòmids i de l'ordre dels cipriniformes. Es troba a Nord-amèrica, incloent-hi Mèxic.[2][3][4][5][6][7] És un peix d'aigua dolça i de clima subtropical.[2] Els mascles poden assolir 123 cm de longitud total[8] i 28,7 kg de pes.[2] És ovípar.[9] Menja algues (incloent-hi diatomees) i crustacis.[10]
