Macrocephenchelys és un gènere de peixos marins pertanyent a la família dels còngrids i a l'ordre dels anguil·liformes.[1][2]

Etimologia[modifica]

Macrocephenchelys prové dels mots grecs makros (gran), kephale (cap) i enchelys, -yos (anguila).[3]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba al Pacífic occidental:[4][5] des de la Xina[6][7] i Taiwan[8][9] fins a Austràlia,[10][11] incloent-hi el mar de la Xina Oriental,[12][13] el mar de la Xina Meridional,[14][15] les illes Filipines,[16] l'estret de Macassar entre Borneo i Cèlebes[10] i Nova Caledònia.[5][17][18]
