Polynemus paradiseus és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels polinèmids.[2]
Descripció[modifica]
- Pot arribar a fer 23 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 17).
- 7 espines i 14-15 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 2 espines i 11-13 radis tous a l'anal.[3][4]
Alimentació[modifica]
Menja principalment crustacis (sobretot, gambes), peixets i organismes bentònics.[3]
Hàbitat[modifica]
És un peix d'aigua dolça (durant l'època de reproducció), marina i salabrosa; amfídrom,[5] demersal i de clima tropical (24°N-11°N, 71°E-102°E),[6] el qual viu fins als 25 m de fondària sobre fons sorrencs.[3][7]
Distribució geogràfica[modifica]
Es troba a l'Índic oriental i el Pacífic occidental: des de la costa occidental de l'Índia[8][9][10] fins a Tailàndia i, probablement també, Malàisia[11][12][13] i Laos.[3][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]
Observacions[modifica]
És inofensiu per als humans i es comercialitza fresc.[26][3]
