Pomoxis és un gènere de peixos pertanyent a la família dels centràrquids.[3]

Etimologia [modifica]
Del grec πώμα (opercle) i οξύς (esmolat).[4]
Alimentació [modifica]
Totes dues espècies es nodreixen principalment de peixos més petits, incloent-hi els juvenils dels seus depredadors (com ara, el lluç de riu, el luci masquinongi i la lucioperca groga). La seua dieta també inclou zooplàncton, insectes i crustacis.[4]
Distribució geogràfica [modifica]
Es troba a Nord-amèrica.[5][6][7][8]

Observacions [modifica]
Ambdues espècies són populars entre els afeccionats a la pesca esportiva.[4]
