Rhinopias frondosa és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels escorpènids.[5]

  • Fa 23 cm de llargària màxima.
  • Cos molt comprimit.
  • És molt variable quant al color i els apèndixs que té en relació a l'hàbitat que ocupi.[6][7][8]

Alimentació [modifica]

Caça durant la nit peixos (incloent-hi altres espècies d'escorpènids) i petits invertebrats.[6]

Hàbitat [modifica]

És un peix marí, associat als esculls de corall i de clima tropical (32°N-6°N) que viu entre 13-90 m de fondària.[6][9]

Distribució geogràfica [modifica]

Es troba des de Durban (Sud-àfrica) fins al sud del Japó, les illes Carolines i l'est d'Austràlia.[6][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23]

Observacions [modifica]

És verinós per als humans.[6][24]
