Robert Benchley

Robert Charles Benchley (Worcester, Massachusetts, 15 de setembre del 1889 - Nova York, 21 de novembre del 1945) fou un actor, crític teatral i humorista estatunidenc.

Es graduà a la Universitat Harvard i ràpidament passà a formar part del personal laboral de la publicació "Life" el 1920. Fou membre de l'"Algonquin Round Table", fent de crític escènic per a la revista "The New Yorker" del 1929 al 1940 i on va escriure sota el pseudònim de Guy Fawkes. Interpretà diversos papers secundaris en moltes pel·lícules, però és més conegut pels seus més de 40 curtmetratges com How to Sleep, curt guanyador d'un premi Oscar el 1934.
