Stenodus nelma és una espècie de peix de la família dels salmònids i de l'ordre dels salmoniformes que habita a Amèrica del Nord i Euràsia (Sibèria, Rússia).[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] És un peix demersal d'aigua dolça, salabrosa i marina.[6] Els mascles poden assolir 150 cm de longitud total[12] i 40 kg de pes.[28] Tenene entre 63 i 69 vèrtebres.[6] Els adults mengen peixets i els alevins larves d'insectes aquàtics i crustacis planctònics.[29] La seua carn és blanca, dolça i lleugerament oliosa.[30] És venut fresc o congelat.[6] Al Canadà és depredat per Stenodus leucichthys, Esox lucius i Lota lota.[31] És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
