Hydatellaceae és una petita família de plantes amb flors aquàtiques que inclou el gènere Trithuria, el qual recentment ha estat redefinit per incloure el gènere Hydatella.[1] Aquesta família inclou unes 12 espècies que es distribueixen a Australàsia i Índia. Els seus fruits són fol·licles o aquenis.[2]
El grup Hydatellaceae és el grup germana vivent de les Nymphaeaceae i Cabombaceae i per tant representa un dels llinatges més antics de les plantes amb flors.[3]
