Cottapistus cottoides és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels tetrarògids i l'única del gènere Cottapistus.[3][4]
Etimologia[modifica]
Cottapistus prové dels mots grecs kottos (una mena de peix) i apistos (incert),[5] mentre que l'epítet cottoides deriva d'-oides (que té la forma de) i fa referència, presumiblement, a la seua semblança amb els peixos del gènere Cottus per la seua combinació d'un gran cap amb la boca ampla i un cos relativament curt.[6]
Descripció[modifica]
Fa 9,2 cm de llargària màxima.[7][8]
Alimentació[modifica]
El seu nivell tròfic és de 3,45.[9]
Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]
És un peix marí, demersal i de clima tropical,[8] el qual viu a la conca Indo-Pacífica: els fons marins relativament tous i fins als 24 m de fondària[8] de la Xina,[7][10] el mar de la Xina Meridional,[11][12] el Vietnam,[7][13] les illes Filipines,[7][14] Tailàndia,[7][15] el golf de Tailàndia,[16][17] Singapur,[7][18][19] Indonèsia,[20][21] el nord-oest d'Austràlia[22][23][24][25][26][27][20] (el Territori del Nord,[28][29] Queensland[28] i Austràlia Occidental),[30][31] el mar de Banda,[20] el mar d'Arafura[32] i la Gran Barrera de Corall.[27][33][34][2]
Observacions[modifica]
És verinós per als humans,[7][8] el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és moderat (36 de 100)[35] i és força freqüent trobar-lo a les xarxes d'arrossegament destinades a capturar gambes.[7]
