William Dwight Schultz (nascut el 24 de novembre de 1947) és un actor de televisió, cinema i doblatge estatunidenc. És conegut pels seus papers com a Capità "Howling Mad" Murdock a la sèrie d'acció dels anys vuitanta The A-Team i com a Reginald Barclay a la franquícia Star Trek.[1][2][3]
També és conegut en animació com el científic boig megalomànic Dr. Animo a Ben 10 sèrie, Adrian Toomes/Vulture en alguns videojocs de Marvel, el xef Mung Daal a la sèrie animada infantil Chowder, i Eddie l'esquirol a CatDog.[1]
Primers anys
[modifica]Schultz va néixer a Baltimore el 24 de novembre de 1947.[4] És d'ascendència alemanya i catòlic romà. Va estudiar a la Calvert Hall College High School i a la Universitat Towson.[5]
Carrera
[modifica]El paper estrella de Schultz va ser el del capità "Howling Mad" Murdock a The A-Team. Va aparèixer en diverses pel·lícules, incloent-hi The Fan (1981), i va protagonitzar Fat Man and Little Boy (1989) com a J. Robert Oppenheimer. A principis dels anys noranta, va tenir un paper recurrent com a tinent Reginald Barclay a Star Trek: La nova generació; va repetir el paper a Star Trek: Voyager i a la pel·lícula Star Trek: First Contact. Va actuar a la pel·lícula de televisió de 1992 Child of Rage, protagonitzada al costat de Mel Harris com una parella compassiva que adopta una noia problemàtica que ha estat abusada sexualment.[1] El novembre de 2009, Schultz va confirmar que ell i l'excoprotagonista de A-Team Dirk Benedict farien aparicions cameo al llargmetratge The A-Team.[6]
Schultz va presentar un podcast de ràdio conservador anomenat Howling Mad Radio que va acabar el març de 2009. També ha estat presentador convidat en nombroses ocasions per a Michael Savage a The Savage Nation, Jerry Doyle a The Jerry Doyle Show i Rusty Humphries a The Rusty Humphries Show.[6] També publica comentaris polítics i podcasts al seu lloc web oficial de fans.[7]
Vida personal
[modifica]Schultz es va casar amb l'actriu Wendy Fulton el 1983.[8] Tenen una filla .[9]
Schultz és catòlic[10] i políticament conservador. El 2012 va començar a aparèixer regularment a "The Glazov Gang", un programa de tertúlia política a Internet presentat per Jamie Glazov, editor en cap de FrontPage Magazine.[11]
