Sinònims

Hypoatherina valenciennei és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels aterínids.[5]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Pot arribar a fer 12 cm de llargària màxima.
  • Cos de color blanc argentat i cobert per grans escates rodones. El cap és nu, llevat de l'opercle que està cobert d'escates.
  • 5-8 espines i 8-10 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 1 espina i 10-13 radis tous a l'anal.[6][7][8]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix d'aigua marina i salabrosa, pelàgic-nerític i de clima tropical.[6]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba a l'Índic i el Pacífic: Brunei, Cambodja, la Xina (incloent-hi Hong Kong),[9] l'Índia, Indonèsia,[10][11][12] el Japó (incloent-hi les illes Ogasawara[13]),[14][15][16] la península de Corea, Malàisia,[17] Papua Nova Guinea,[18][19][20] les illes Filipines,[21] Singapur, Salomó, Taiwan, Tailàndia[22] i el Vietnam.[23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35]

Observacions[modifica]

És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
