Nomenclatura
Sinònims

Parapercis millepunctata és una espècie de peix de la família dels pingüipèdids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.[6]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Fa 18 cm de llargària màxima[7] i presenta un patró tacat al dors, taques de color marró a taronja darrere dels ulls a la part superior del cap i una taca blanca a la cua.[8] Els mascles tenen un ocel de color negre per sobre de l'opercle i proper a l'extrem superior de l'obertura branquial, mentre que les femelles mostren un punt més petit i de color marró fosc a la mateixa ubicació.[7]
  • 4 espines i 20-21 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 1 espina i 16-17 radis tous a l'anal.[9]

Alimentació[modifica]

Es nodreix d'organismes bentònics[10] i el seu nivell tròfic és de 3,54.[11]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]

És un peix marí, associat als esculls (entre 3 i 50 m de fondària)[12] i de clima tropical (30°N-30°S), el qual viu a la conca Indo-Pacífica:[13] des de Maurici[7][14] i les illes Maldives[15] fins a Pitcairn,[16] el Japó (incloent-hi les illes Ogasawara[17][18] i Ryukyu),[19][12][12][20][21][22] el sud de la Gran Barrera de Corall[23] i tot Oceania (llevat de les illes Hawaii i l'illa de Pasqua),[7] incloent-hi la Samoa Nord-americana, les illes Andaman,[24] Austràlia (Queensland),[7][25] Txagos,[26] les illes Cook, Fiji,[27] la Polinèsia Francesa,[12] Guam,[16] Indonèsia,[28][29][30] les illes Marshall,[16] la Micronèsia,[12] les illes Mariannes,[16][31] Nova Caledònia,[32][33][34] Niue,[35] la república de Palau,[16] Papua Nova Guinea,[36][37][38] les illes Filipines,[12][39][40][41][42][43] les illes Salomó, Taiwan,[44][45][46] Tonga[47] i el Vietnam.[48][49][50][51][52][53][54][4][9][55]
