Sinònims

Parapercis tetracantha és una espècie de peix de la família dels pingüipèdids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.[6]

Descripció[modifica]

El cos fa 26 cm de llargària màxima i presenta 3 sèries de grans punts longitudinals i blanquinosos, una banda de color gris-marró fosc des del clatell fins a l'interopercle i contenint un anell negre just per sobre de l'obertura branquial, una franja de color gris-marró fosc i ampla a sota de l'ull i 3 punts negres a cada costat de l'abdomen. 5 espines i 20-21 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 1 espina i 16-17 radis tous a l'anal.[7][8]

Alimentació[modifica]

El seu nivell tròfic és de 3,47.[9]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]

És un peix marí, associat als esculls[10] (entre 12 i 20 m de fondària)[11] i de clima tropical, el qual viu a la conca Indo-Pacífica: els vessants costaners (des de la costa rocallosa poc fonda fins a les àrees més fondes i toves)[12] des de la badia de Bengala (les illes Andaman,[13] l'Índia)[14][15] fins al Japó[16][17][18][19][20] (com ara, les illes Ryukyu)[21] i Indonèsia,[22][23][24][25] incloent-hi Taiwan,[26][27][28][29][30] Tailàndia,[31] Papua Nova Guinea,[32][33][34][35] les illes Filipines,[18][36][37][38][39][40] les illes Cocos,[11][41] Fiji[14][42] i la república de Palau.[11][43][44][45][46][47][4][8][48]
