Espècies

Amblygaster sirm és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels clupeids.[2]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Pot arribar a fer 27 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 20).
  • 13-21 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 12-23 a l'anal.[3][4][5]

Alimentació[modifica]

Menja sobretot copèpodes, larves de bivalves i de gastròpodes, Peridinium i Ceratium.[3]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix marí, associat als esculls[6] i de clima tropical (35°N-28°S, 31°E-178°W) que viu entre 10 i 75 m de fondària.[7][3][8]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba des del mar Roig[9][10] i Moçambic[11][12] fins a les illes Filipines, Taiwan, Okinawa (el Japó), Nova Guinea,[13][14] el mar d'Arafura,[15] el nord d'Austràlia[16][17] i Fiji.[3][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53][54]

Ús comercial[modifica]

És emprat com a esquer en la pesca de la tonyina.[3][55]

Longevitat[modifica]

La seua esperança de vida és de 8 anys.[9]

Observacions[modifica]

És inofensiu per als humans.[3]
