The Growth team has created a feature called "Add an image". It helps newcomers to add an image to an unillustrated article. You can test it at test.wikipedia.org or at any other wikis where it is deployed.

Of course, newcomers won't import a random images: we suggest one image, based on the same topic articles that have an image, or the Wikidata item image. Only articles without any image (or without any infobox) are suggested. Newcomers have to check if the image is correct, and then write a caption based on the article content and the image. At pilot wikis where we test this feature, the revert rate is quite low.

Do you think your community would like to test this feature in advance? The images suggestions with image suggestions will be available at Special:Homepage, for a 50% of newcomers. The test would start mid-June.
