Cataetyx alleni és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels bitítids i a l'ordre dels ofidiformes.[5][6]
Descripció[modifica]
Té el cos moderadament allargat, el cap amb escates i l'opercle amb una forta espina a l'angle superior. Musell no fortament deprimit. Aletes ventrals formades per un sol radi cada una. L'aleta dorsal té de 109 a 111 radis, l'anal en té de 79 a 83 i totes dues conflueixen amb la caudal. El cap i les aletes senars són de color gris, i el cos és bru tirant a blavós a la regió abdominal. La longitud total és d'uns 12 cm.[7][8]
Reproducció[modifica]
És vivípar[8] i de fecundació interna.[9]
Alimentació[modifica]
Menja poliquets i crustacis bentònics (amfípodes, copèpodes i isòpodes),[10][11][12][13] i el seu nivell tròfic és de 3,39.[14]
Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]
És un peix marí i batidemersal (entre 480 i 1.000 m de fondària),[7][8] el qual viu a l'Atlàntic[8][15] oriental (Irlanda,[16][17] França,[8][18] la península Ibèrica[8] -com ara, Portugal[8][19]- i el corrent de les Canàries)[16][20] i la Mediterrània[21][22][23][24][10][12] (l'Estat espanyol[25][26] -incloent-hi les illes Balears[27][28][29]-, Itàlia[8] -incloent-hi Sardenya[30][31]- i la mar Adriàtica).[32][33][34][3][35][36]
Observacions[modifica]
És inofensiu per als humans[35] i el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és baix (14 de 100).[37]
