Gerres filamentosus és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels gerrèids.[2]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Fa 35 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 15).
  • Color generalment platejat.[3][4][5]

Alimentació[modifica]

Menja petits crustacis, poliquets, cucs i larves d'insectes.[6][7]

Depredadors[modifica]

A les illes Filipines és depredat per Saurida tumbil.[8]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix marí i d'aigua dolça (penetra als llacs i rius de Madagascar i de l'Àfrica Oriental), demersal i de clima tropical (26 °C-29 °C; 32°N-12°S) que viu entre 10 i 50 m de fondària.[3][9]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba des de l'Àfrica Oriental i Madagascar fins al Japó, Austràlia, Nova Caledònia i Vanuatu.[3][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38]

Ús comercial[modifica]

És emprat per a fer salaons i salsa de peix.[3]
