Aldrichetta forsteri és una espècie de peix de la família dels mugílids i de l'ordre dels mugiliformes.

Particularitats[modifica]

Aldrichetta forsteri és l'única espècie del gènere Aldrichetta.[1]

És un peix que menja detritus bentònics, algues i petits invertebrats,[2] inofensiu per als humans.[3][2]

Morfologia[modifica]

Reproducció[modifica]

És ovípar.[6]

Depredadors[modifica]

A Austràlia és depredat per Argyrosomus hololepidotus, Arripis trutta, el corb marí gros (Phalacrocorax carbo) i Phalacrocorax sulcirostris.[7]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix de clima temperat[8] i demersal que viu entre 0-50 m de fondària.[9][2]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba al Pacífic sud-occidental: Nova Zelanda (incloent-hi les Illes Chatham) i Austràlia (incloent-hi Tasmània).[2][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][8][17][18][19][20][21]

Ús comercial[modifica]

Es comercialitza fresc (sencer i eviscerat o en filets), fumat i en salaó. Els ous també són consumits com a caviar.[22]
