Lethrinus rubrioperculatus és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels letrínids.[3]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Pot arribar a fer 50 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 30).
  • 10 espines i 9 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 3 espines i 8 radis tous a l'anal.
  • És de color marró o gris oliva amb taques irregulars disperses de color negre.
  • Els llavis són, normalment, de color vermell.
  • Aletes pàl·lides o rosades.[4][5]

Alimentació[modifica]

Menja principalment crustacis, peixos, equinoderms i mol·luscs.[6]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix marí, associat als esculls[7] i de clima tropical (33°N-25°S) que viu entre 12 i 160 m de fondària.[4][8]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba des de l'Àfrica Oriental[9][10][11][12][13] fins al sud del Japó i les illes Marqueses.[4][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40]

Ús comercial[modifica]

Es comercialitza fresc.[4]

Observacions[modifica]

És inofensiu per als humans.[4]
