Kyphosus bigibbus és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels kifòsids.[2]
Descripció[modifica]
- Pot arribar a fer 75 cm de llargària màxima i 1.850 g de pes.
- 10-11 espines i 11-13 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 3-4 espines i 10-12 radis tous a l'anal.
- Se n'han vist exemplars albins.[3][4][5][6]
Alimentació[modifica]
Menja algues dels gèneres Sargassum i Turbinaria.[3]
Hàbitat[modifica]
És un peix marí, associat als esculls,[7] oceanòdrom[8] i de clima tropical (35°N-28°S).[3]
Distribució geogràfica[modifica]
Es troba des del mar Roig[9] i Sud-àfrica[10] fins a Austràlia[11] i el sud del Japó (incloent-hi les illes Ryukyu).[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42]
Ús comercial[modifica]
És apreciat com a aliment (llevat de les illes Hawaii).[43]
