El monasterio, The monastery, reconocido como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO lo fundó Gregorio I el Iluminador en el siglo IV en el nacimiento de un río en una cueva, mientras que la capilla se construyó en 1215.
English: Panoramic view of the Geghard Monastery and its surroundings, Kotayk province, Armenia. The monastery, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded in the 4th century by Gregory the Illuminator at the site of a sacred spring inside a cave, whereas the chapel was built in 1215.
