Resum
| Descripció | The story behind this monastery goes all the way to the sixth century when Anton, one of thirteen monks that came to Georgia from Syria settled and built a small monastery. As monastery grew, Anton left the monastery and settled in a tower nearby and lived there for the rest of his life (15 years). The name martkophi is a short from martodmkopheli, the name that was given to the tower where Anton resided. Martodmkopheli translates as "one who is by himself". |
