Perameles és un gènere de marsupials de l'ordre Peramelemorphia. El nom del gènere Perameles prové del grec antic πήρα (pḗra), que significa (‘bossa’), i del llatí mēlēs, que significa ‘marta’, ‘teixó’.^[1]

Més de la meitat de les espècies recents conegudes de Perameles s'han extingit, tot i que aquestes espècies extintes van ser considerades durant molt de temps conespecífiques amb P. bougainville, un estudi del 2018 va determinar que eren espècies diferents.^[2] A més de tres espècies fòssils, n'inclou tres de vivents:

Bàndicut de musell llarg (P. nasuta)
