Susan Smythe Kung és la gerent de l'Archive of the Indigenous Languages of Latin America al LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections de la Universitat de Texas a Austin.[1] Kung és un lingüista especialitzat en l'arxiu de llengües en perill i la llengua tepehua de Huehuetla d'Hidalgo, Mèxic. Es va doctorar en lingüística el 2007 a la Universitat de Texas a Austin i va realitzar la seva dissertació A Descriptive Grammar of Huehuetla Tepehua[2] que va guanyar el premi Mary R. Haas Book Award de la Societat per a l'Estudi de les Llengües Indígenes de les Amèriques.[3] Kung és President de DELAMAN, el Digital Endangered Languages and Music Archiving Network el 2016-2018i membre fundador del Linguistics Data Interest Group (LDIG) de la Research Data Alliance.[4]
