Hi Paucabot,

I operate KasparBot, the bot which migrates authority control info to Wikidata. For this task which is executed once every night the bot uses Categoria:Pàgines que utilitzen control d'autoritats amb paràmetres. I noticed that you renamed this category because the related automated edit on Wikidata appeared on my watchlist. This is not really the best way to assure that bots and other scripts are adapted. It would be great if you could announce changes like this on related talk pages.

I'm sorry I didn't know a bot used this category. There was nothing to notice it in the category. It would be a great idea to add it.

The reason I made this change is because it had a wrong name and it had a notice warning it would be renamed for more than six months.

Okay. I didn't see the notice either. I should find a better system for noticing breaking changes in the wikis where I operate (they are more than 20). Do you have a template in mind which indicates that bots are using a certain category?

I don't think we have this template to warn about bot-used category. We could create it (I haven't found any similar in :en) or we could only use the general {{Avís}}.

I new template would be cool. I imagine parameters like

• task description
• bot
• operator
• talk pages for notifications

All pages connected to Q19949591 could use translated versions of it. What do you think?

On a larger scale this should/could probably be discussed in a more efficient manner on the Wikidata project chat. Question: "How should client wikis notify Wikipedia-Wikidata-bots about breaking changes?" / "How should crucial categories / templates / structures in general be marked as globally important?"

I've made {{Botcat}}. It has three parameters bot, template which the bot is related and operator. Try it.
