Elena Paredes Suris[modifica]

Elena Paredes was an Argentinian painter trained at the Escola de la Llotja (Llotja School) in Barcelona. Paredes participated in several Salons de Maig and in 1965 she was awarded the annual benchmark of avant-garde drawing: the Premi Internacional de Dibuix Joan Miró (Joan Miró International Drawing Award), being her the firt woman to ever achieve it. She had her studio in Cadaqués and usually exhibited her work in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Elche... She stood out for her characteristic expressionist style which she used to express feelings such as anguish and oppression.
