Heraklas' sling XIII, the plinthios brokhos is produced in the same manner as a string figure. This example is formed in a doubled cord for better visibility.

Heraklas (Plantilla:Lang-grc-gre) va ser un metge grec del segle primer dC la descripcions dels cirurgians nus s i eslingues es conserven al llibre 48 del Oribasi 'medicina Col·leccions' ' (Ἰατρικαὶ Συναγωγαί, Iatrikai Synagogai) under the title From Heraklas.[1]

En descriure en detall, Heraklas discutir 16 nusos diferents i fondes, [1] incloent el relat escrit conegut més d'hora d'un [figura string []].[2] Il·lustracions d'acompanyament dels nusos es van afegir més tard per Renaixement copistes, però l'anàlisi modern dels escrits per experts de nus ha demostrat que molts d'aquests primers dibuixos per contenir errors o males interpretacions significatives.[3]

The knots identified

The current understanding of Heraklas' knots results primarily from analysis and identification by Hjalmar Öhrvall, Lawrence G. Miller, and Cyrus L. Day, although slightly differing interpretations and refinements continue to be made.[1] The table below shows the knots believed to have been described by Heraklas.
