Per evitar la confusió amb altre actor amb el mateix nom, sovint es coneix Tony Leung Ka Fai com "Tony el llarg" mentre que Tony Leung Chiu Wai se'l menciona com "Tony el curt", fent relació a l'alçada corporal que tenen.
