Gerres oyena és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels gerrèids.[2]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Fa 30 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 20).[3][4][5]

Alimentació[modifica]

Menja els petits organismes que viuen als fons sorrencs.[3]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix marí, de clima tropical (32°N-24°S) i associat als esculls que viu fins als 20 m de fondària .[3][6]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba des del mar Roig, el golf Pèrsic i l'Àfrica Oriental fins a les costes sud-orientals de l'Índia, Sri Lanka i el Pacífic occidental.[3][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40]

Ús comercial[modifica]

És venut fresc als mercats i, a més, és emprat per a fer farina de peix i com a menjar per a ànecs.[3]

És inofensiu per als humans.[3]
