Tema de Viquipèdia:La taverna/Propostes

Copio i enganxo una proposta que han passat per la llista de wikitech-ambassadors. Demanen wikis disposades a provar una nova funcionalitat que agafa les dades de Wikidata per crear un article provisional automàticament en les pàgines que encara no s'han creat.

Personalment no crec que sigui una bona eina, crec que és millor no tenir l'article que tenir un article creat automàticament amb un poti-poti de dades de Wikidata i per tant voto en contra d'implementar-la.

As part of my Bachelor’s thesis I worked on an extension called “ArticlePlaceholder” <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ArticlePlaceholder> over the last months.

One of the biggest barriers for accessing the knowledge Wikipedia provides is language.

There are many topics that are only covered in few, big Wikipedias. People who don’t speak any of these languages don’t have access to all the information available potentially vital to them.

The Article Placeholder extensions aims at smaller Wikipedias to support them in increasing access to data available on Wikidata. Article Placeholders are automatically generated content pages in Wikipedia or other mediawiki projects displaying data from Wikidata. They are clearly not actual articles but an overview of data on a topic which does not have an article yet. The design of the page and its content is under the control of the local community via Lua and templates but we will provide defaults so smaller Wikipedias can work with them without having to worry about the technical side of it.

I have a test setup on Labs with an example for Ada Lovelace <http://articleplaceholder.wmflabs.org/mediawiki/index.php/Special:AboutTopic/Q3>

The reader can find these pages by searching for a topic and gets results if there is an Item on Wikidata with the respective label and/or alias.

The reader would benefit a lot since even if there is no article on a topic yet, they will still have basic information provided in their language. But it also might increase the numbers of editors due to increased usefulness of that Wikipedia.

We are now looking for the first Wikipedias to support the extension by deploying it and giving their input. I am still developing the extension and the first Wikipedias to try it will naturally have a larger say in how it evolves.

If your Wikipedia would like to give it a try please let me know. We would start it as a beta feature.

Aquest exemple que poses (Ada Lovelace) em recorda aquest altre de Nelson Mandela amb el Reasonator. Supòs que la diferència és que la primera és una extensió de Mediawiki. La versió ''nostrada'' és Tounj (vegeu el codi).

A mi no m'acaba de convèncer. Potser podria ser una bona eina per la wiki en cebuà... En tot cas, una opció més o manco equivalent i menys intrusiva seria afegir l'enllaç a Reasonator a MediaWiki:Searchmenu-new.

Molt d'acord amb vosaltres. En aquest Wiki ja varem tenir el nostre debat intern en el si de la Viquitrobada 2015. Eh, voilà les conclusions.

Per a que s'entengui: no es creen articles, es mostra la informació en una pàgina inexistent i amb un botó per animar a crear-la partint de zero. Ve a ser com el beta "read more" que incrusta enllaços a final de pàgina, en aquest cas sense pàgina. El format de la informació a presentar és configurable, a diferència de Reasonator. L'efecte és que en punxar un enllaç vermell, en lloc de trobar-se una caixa de text buida a omplir et dona alguna informació bàsica, possiblement més que l'exemple de Tounj. Evita el síndrome de l'escriptor davant un full en blanc, la frustració del lector inexpert, i segurament evita la temptació de crear-lo amb menys informació. No ho veig malament, de totes formes preferiria veure-ho funcionar abans en alguna viquipèdia més petita.

cada cop tenim més DBs a l'abast, més dades de tot arreu, està molt verd però aquestes eines són una prèvia del que es podria fer, encara no ha evolucionat prou però va en bon camí perquè sí hi ha usuaris interessats en el tema.

És cert el que comenta en Vriullop que no serien articles automàtics sinó una cosa una mica diferent. I també és cert que el síndrome del full en blanc existeix. Ara, no sé si una pàgina tan llarga com la d'Ada Lovelace ajudaria a editar. Si s'ha d'implementar, crec que hauria de ser més diferenciat d'un article i més breu.
