Melanostigma atlanticum és una espècie de peix de la família dels zoàrcids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.

Morfologia[modifica]

Alimentació[modifica]

Menja foraminífers, copèpodes i ostracodes.[6]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix marí i d'aigües profundes que viu entre 400-1.853 m de fondària.[4][7]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba a l'Atlàntic nord-occidental (des de Nova Brunswick -el Canadà-[7][8] fins a Virgínia -els Estats Units-), l'Atlàntic oriental (la costa occidental d'Escòcia i entre Cap Blanc -Mauritània- i les Illes Canàries)[9] i la Mediterrània (el Golf de Gènova i la península Ibèrica).[10][11][12][4][13][14][15][16][5][17]

Observacions[modifica]

És inofensiu per als humans.[4]
