Els zoàrcids (Zoarcidae) són una família de peixos marins pertanyents a l'ordre dels perciformes i al superordre dels acantopterigis.[1]

Morfologia[modifica]

Cos allargat. Aletes dorsal i anal allargades i formant una aleta contínua juntament amb l'aleta caudal. Absència d'aletes pelvianes. 58-150 vèrtebres. Segons les espècies, poden presentar o no escates. Zoarces americanus n'és l'espècie amb la màxima longitud: 1,1 m.[2]

Reproducció[modifica]

Les tres espècies del gènere Zoarces són ovovivípares, tots els altres són ovípars.[2]

Hàbitat[modifica]

Les 220 espècies d'aquesta família són marines (algunes a gran fondària).[3]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es distribueixen des de l'Àrtic fins a l'Antàrtic.[2]
