Phaeoptyx conklini és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels apogònids.[5]

Descripció[modifica]

  • Pot arribar a fer 9 cm de llargària màxima.
  • Té una taca allargada, vertical i negrosa a la base de l'aleta caudal.[6][7][8]

Reproducció[modifica]

És ovípar[9] amb una bossa bucal per poder covar els ous.[10]

Depredadors[modifica]

Als Estats Units és depredat pel nodi comú (Anous stolidus) i el xatrac fosc (Sterna fuscata).[11][12]

Hàbitat[modifica]

És un peix marí, associat als esculls de corall[13] de l'espècie Acropora palmata[14] i de clima tropical que viu entre 0-22 m de fondària.[6][15]

Distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba a l'Atlàntic occidental central: des del sud de Florida (els Estats Units)[16] i les Bahames[17] fins al nord de Sud-amèrica.[6][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][8][26]

Observacions[modifica]

És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
