L´areng gràcil (Spratelloides gracilis) és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels clupeids.[5]

Descripció [modifica]

  • Pot arribar a fer 10,5 cm de llargària màxima.
  • 12-13 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 12-13 a l'anal.[6][7]

Depredadors [modifica]

A Salomó és depredat per Tylosurus crocodilus crocodilus i al Japó per Fistularia commersonii.[8][9]

Hàbitat [modifica]

És un peix marí, pelàgic-nerític i de clima tropical (40°N-28°S, 31°E-134°W).[6][10]

Distribució geogràfica [modifica]

Es troba des del mar Roig fins a Zanzíbar i el Pacífic occidental (des del Japó fins a les illes Filipines, Austràlia, Samoa, les illes Tuamotu, Palau i les illes Marshall).[6][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][7][38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46]

Ús comercial [modifica]

Es comercialitza fresc i en salaó.[47] És emprat també com a esquer en la pesca de la tonyina.[48][6][49]

És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
