Trichonotus setiger és una espècie de peix de la família dels triconòtids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.[2]
Descripció[modifica]
- Fa 22 cm de llargària màxima.
- 39-41 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal (els dels mascles són allargats).[3][4][5]
Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]
És un peix marí i d'aigua salabrosa, associat als esculls i de clima tropical, el qual viu (en grans concentracions)[6] als vessants costeruts i sorrencs de Maurici,[7][8] Reunió,[9][8][10] l'Índia, Indonèsia,[3][6][11][12] Papua Nova Guinea,[13][14][15] les illes Filipines,[16] Taiwan,[17][18][19] el Japó (incloent-hi les illes Ogasawara)[20][21][22][23][24][25] i Austràlia.[1][5][26][27]
Observacions[modifica]
És inofensiu per als humans, s'amaga a la sorra per a passar desapercebut[5] i, normalment, roman sobre el fons marí (llevat dels moments en què l'abandona per a alimentar-se del zooplàncton que sura a la columna d'aigua).[3]
