Tetraroge és un gènere de peixos pertanyent a la família dels tetrarògids i a l'ordre dels escorpeniformes.[1][2]

Etimologia[modifica]

Tetraroge prové del grec antic tetra (quatre)[3] i roge, es (fissura, esquerda).[4]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba a la conca Indo-Pacífica:[5][6] l'Índia[7] (incloent-hi el llac Chilka[8][9] i les illes Andaman),[10][11] Tailàndia,[12][13] Indonèsia[6][14] (com ara, Sumatra, Bali, Cèlebes, Seram, Ambon, Tanimbar i Buru),[15] el mar de Banda,[6][16] Papua Nova Guinea,[17][18] Nova Caledònia,[19][20][21][22] les illes Filipines,[23][24][25] Palau,[19][26] Vanuatu,[27] el mar de la Xina Meridional,[28][29] el Japó[30][31][32][33] (incloent-hi les illes Ryukyu)[30][34][35] i, possiblement també, Fiji i les illes Salomó.[36][37][38]

Tant Tetraroge barbata[36] com Tetraroge niger[42] apareixen a la Llista Vermella de la UICN.

Observacions[modifica]

Ambdues espècies tenen espinoses verinoses.[36][42]
