Paracentropogon és un gènere de peixos pertanyent a la família dels tetrarògids i a l'ordre dels escorpeniformes.[1][2]

Etimologia[modifica]

Paracentropogon deriva dels mots grecs παρά (para; al costat de, prop), κέντρον (kéntron; fibló) i pogon (barba).[3]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica[modifica]

Es troba a la conca Indo-Pacífica (des del sud de l'Índia fins al sud de la Xina -incloent-hi, Hong Kong[4]-, Nova Caledònia,[5][6] Maurici,[7] les illes Seychelles,[8] Tailàndia,[9] Singapur,[10] el Vietnam,[11] el mar de la Xina Meridional,[12] Taiwan,[13] Indonèsia[14][15][16] -com ara, Lombok,[17] Borneo, Buru, Seram, Ambon,[18] Cèlebes[19] i Papua Occidental[20]-, el mar de Banda, Papua Nova Guinea, les illes Filipines,[21][22][23] el mar del Corall,[24] la Gran Barrera de Corall i Austràlia[25] -Austràlia Occidental,[26] incloent-hi la badia de Shark i l'arxipèlag Dampier,[27] el Territori del Nord[28] i Queensland[29]-) i al Pacífic nord-occidental[30] (el sud del Japó[30][31] -com ara, les prefectures de Miyazaki,[32] Ehime[33] i Kagoshima[34]-, el sud de la península de Corea[35] -Corea del Sud[36][37]- i el corrent de Kuroshio).[38][39][40][21][41]
