L'ós bru (Ursus arctos) és una espècie de mamífer pertanyent a la família dels úrsids.

Alimentació

Són animals típicament omnívors però amb predomini vegetal i és coneguda la seva afició per la mel (el fibló de les abelles no pot penetrar en el seu pelatge). També mengen invertebrats i mamífers.

La reintroducció de a les comarques del Pirineu, amb exemplars provinents d'Eslovènia, ha portat alguns problemes pel fet que aquests animals s'han comportat com carnívors atacant els ramats d'ovelles.

Depredadors

Ha estat caçat pels humans i, encara que rar, els cadells poden ser atacats per altres óssos bruns, llops (Canis lupus) i pumes (Puma concolor).

Distribució geogràfica

Viu a Euràsia i Nord-amèrica, tot i que, antigament, també ho feien a l'Àfrica del Nord.

A la Península Ibèrica hi ha ossos bruns a la Serralada Cantàbrica i als Pirineus.
